The Mind: Part 2 of 3 Whatever we yearn for becomes our prison. We have to find freedom by removing that same thing. That is, there is the One who created us. He must be present. He is that One Treasure that nurtures us. He is that One Truth. We must understand this Truth, and through the knowledge of this Truth, we must become free from our attachments and this jailhouse. Then there is Peace. That is easy. The thing we saw once, we now desire to see again. What did we see first? What did we see when we came into this world? What is it that we desire to see again? You must reflect upon this. This mind, this eye, this desire, this nose, this ear—reflect deeply upon them. Then think about the passage that we came through and what it is that we desire to see again—we must think. If we think this over, then we may be able to find a way to Peace of Mind. We saw something when we came to this world, now we desire to see this again. What is it that we saw earlier, and what is it that we wish to see again? The passage through which we came, our place of birth, our jailhouse, that dark room of the womb, how we escaped from it—if we reflect a little about that, we will understand a little about going back to the prison again. If we understand that, then Peace will come. Why did we enter that dark cave? How did our form appear in that dark cave? What parts went to make our form? Earth, fire, water, air, and ether compose this form. How did man enter that cave, and with what ties did he get there? We entered through the ties of arrogance, karma, and maya. What happened to these eight parts? What turned them into this prison? This mind is the cause. We must reflect upon this. The thing that entered that cave was imprisoned for ten months. Then it left that cave and came out. Having come out, we are still dwelling in that prison. What is that thing? Why is it trying to re-enter that cave? Why is the mind trying to return there? What is the reason for its re-entry? You must reflect upon this with your wisdom—with the wisdom of your feeling, awareness, intellect, judgment, Wisdom, and Divine Analytic Wisdom. With your Divine Analytic Wisdom, analyze and find that Path which will give you Peace. That Path will be revealed to you. If that Path, that Way to reach Peace, is known and realized, you will say, “Oh, this is the Path to Peace.” Once you see that Path to Peace, you will say, “Oh, this is the Path to Peace.” Once we know this Path, we realize and understand that this mind, which does so many tens and tens of millions of things, can never be made peaceful. Then we begin to think, “What is that which is needed to give this mind Peace?” We need not be in prison every day. We should think about this. We must realize and understand this, that we must give something to this monkey, this baby who keeps everything and plays with it. What should we place before it? We must give this baby a new toy. It has to be a toy that this baby has never seen before. All the toys in the market are things with which the baby keeps on playing. Still, if it sees something new, it will ask for it. Then if it sees another thing, it will ask for that. When it sees still another thing in the market, it will ask for that. We keep on carrying this baby all the time. We are keeping this monkey with us all the time, and we are holding this dog all the time. We are carrying the monkey, the baby, and the dog. We are taking these three with us so they may help us. Wherever we may go these three things will come with us. Of these three things, one is a baby and the second is the dog of desire. This dog of desire will always want those things that are dirty and filthy—even feces. It will smell these things and drag you along with it. It will keep on dragging you. It is a big dog, like an Alsatian. The dog will keep on howling and howling, “Hooo! Hooo!” Because of its strength, it pulls you in its direction, and you keep following it. Next, whatever the baby sees in the market, whatever things it sees, it keeps on crying and says, “Give me this, give me that, give me this!” So when you buy it one thing, it plays for awhile, discards it, and demands another thing. Like this, it keeps on demanding everything it sees. That baby has no peace whatsoever. It keeps on crying all the time. While this is so, that monkey—that monkey of the mind which is equivalent to 70 battalions of monkeys—when it sees a tree it jumps. When it sees a fruit it jumps. When it sees a branch it jumps. When it see a leaf it jumps. When it sees the trees in the jungles—whatever scenes it sees—it jumps. It takes the form of the universe, it jumps, and it leaps. Because of this, if you carry these three things with you, how can you hope to reach Peace? To merely talk about peace is easy. Perhaps you are just talking about this. By closing the door and chanting, aiing, or by chanting ommm, or by saying aummmmm, or whatever you may chant, these three things will never leave you. You may recite these chants after closing the door or after closing your eyes. Even if you stand on your head and recite these, and even if you fold up your body and recite these—in whatever manner you recite these chants, whether hidden in a cave or hidden in the darkness—these three things will still stay with you. The monkey will jump, the baby will cry, and the dog will pull you. My children, who are the gems within my eyes, in this world you must reflect. If you keep these three things with you, how are you ever going to meditate? Aiing, aiing. These are just wasteful words. This is business work. This is a new technique of meditation. You all have found this new technique. Since 1944, you have found many new techniques of meditation, new techniques of prayers and new techniques to reach ‘peace’. But this is not Peace. Having understood these three sections, beat up that dog who keeps demanding this and that, and tie it up. Tie it behind the kitchen with a strong chain. Don’t carry it in your hands. Feed it when it is hungry. This baby will keep on crying all the time. The monkey must be chained under a tree, the tree of Faith. This dog of desire must be tied behind the kitchen and must be taught patience. When it barks, say, “Have patience! I will give it to you. Wait, wait.” For the baby, buy it something good and give it to it. There is nothing in the market of this world that the baby has not seen. There is no market that the mind has not seen. The mind has seen everything, and it keeps searching and running, and it keeps on discarding. So it throws away what it had, then it cries. Then it holds onto something, then it throws it away again, then it cries again. Then it smiles, and then it discards it. Therefore, for that baby, which is the mind that keeps on flying between the earth and the sky, you have to find a thing that it has never seen. If you want Peace, then you have to find this thing. That thing which the mind has not seen is the Truth. That thing which the mind has not seen is Wisdom. That thing which the mind has not seen is God. That thing which the mind has not seen is Light. That thing which the mind has not seen is Eternal Bliss. That Light, that Plenitude, that thing which the mind has not seen is that Wealth of Bliss. That Wealth is very, very beautiful. It has Great Light, Great Power, and Great Bliss. It is not possible to describe all this. This is that Treasure that the baby mind, the dog of desire, and the monkey of the mind have never seen. You must think about this Treasure if you want Peace. If you want Peace of Mind, if you want freedom from the jailhouse, if you want to escape from this dog of desire, if you want to run away from the monkey of the mind, and if you want to reach the state of Peacefulness, there is an easy way. You have to implant the state of Compassionate Love in your heart. You have to fix the Seat of God’s Justice in your heart. You have to fix the Qualities of God in your heart. You have to fix the Actions of God in your heart. You must reflect over God in your heart. Those thoughts will give you Peace. Those ideas will give you Peace. Those looks will give you Peace. That State is like a palace that can give you Peace of Mind. It is a priceless Treasure. It is a Peaceful Treasure. It can give Peace or Shanti. In the world, the world of vision, in the world of thoughts and memories, in the world of dreams, in the world of Wisdom, in the world of Souls, in the world of Gnanam, in the world of our Father, our God, in that world of Plenitude, in the world of Complete Light, it will give you Peace. In all of these worlds it will grant you Peace. To be continued…..The Mind: Part 3
